How to migrate Netwrix Auditor for Active Directory to another computer?


This knowledge base article contains the order the Netwrix Auditor for Active Directory should be moved to another server.  
To migrate Netwrix Auditor for Active Directory, please perform the following steps:
 
  1. Install Netwrix Auditor for Active Directory on a computer where you want to migrate the product to and enter the licensing information (Netwrix Auditor>Settings>Licenses).
  2. Navigate to the Netwrix Auditor>Settings>Audit Archive and select the dedicated directory for the audit archive (if needed) or keep it as default. The product will create audit archive directory with the following structure: %%NetWwrixManagement ConsoleData%% 
  3. Move the following files from the computer with the old product installation to the new computer:
3.1 The AD Changes sub-folder which is located in the Data sub-directory of the audit archive (to find the path to the audit archive directory please refer to the Netwrix Auditor>Settings>Audit Archive).  The AD Changes sub-folder should be placed into the Data sub-directory of the audit archive on new computer (see step 2 above) , by default:  
  • in Windows XP or 2003 Server: C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataNetWrixManagement ConsoleData
  • in Windows Vista or later: C:ProgramDataNetWrixManagement ConsoleData
3.2 All files with TXT extension from the product installation directory, should be placed to the product installation directory on new computer. The system will prompt you to replace the existing files, answer – YES.   
3.3 The Subscription sub-folder which can be found at the following path:  
 
  • in Windows XP or 2003 Server:  C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataNetWrixManagement ConsoleAdvanced ReportingSubscription.
  • in Windows Vista or later: C:ProgramDataNetWrixManagement ConsoleAdvanced ReportingSubscription
The Subscription sub-folder must be placed in the same directory on the new computer.

         4. Create managed objects for managed domains and configure other global settings in the console.
